Meet the newest Item Girl in Bollywood - Alesia Raut

Post motherhood model Alesia Raut, who featured in music videos "Meri beri ke ber" and "Ek aankh maro", puts on her dancing shoes once again for an item number in "Karu Toh Kya Kaaru" and says it will be the next big thing in Bollywood. 

"I have a very delicate image and very soft look, so looking sexy and aggressive has been a challenging task for me. I have tried my best to fit into the character. I am sure lines from the song, 'Tu kar bhala toh ho bhala...saala karke bhi tujhe kya mila' is going to be the next big thing in the music industry, " Alecia told.

The half-Indian-and-half-Russian model has done 11 music videos, she did a cameo in Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion" and also appeared in season four of "Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi".

"I did my first music video in 2003 and that's when I broke a myth that models can dance. I did 11 music videos. After having a baby, I was only doing ramp modelling because my priorities changed. But now he is big and the desire to dances is back, " said Alesia who has a five-year-old-son.

"After so many years, I got a call from a dancer named Rajiv. I worked with him in the past and he is the one who forwarded my number to director Chetan Singh. He called me for audition and later I got a call of confirmation, " she added.

Emraan Hashmi will attend IIFA but not for the awards gala, only for the premiere of his upcoming film ‘Shanghai’

Remember a time when Aamir Khan avoided all award shows? 

Now, buzz is that Emraan Hashmi is all set to walk the same path by giving an upcoming award show in Singapore a miss. The actor is said to be only flying to Singapore to attend the premiere of his next, after which he will catch a flight back.

A friend of Hashmi confirms that the actor has no intentions of attending the award ceremony. 

“He’s not too enthusiastic about the awards show any more now. In fact, he made it clear to the organisers that he was flying only for the premiere of his upcoming film helmed by Dibaker Bannerjee, ” says our informer, adding that the only thing that could goad him to be present inside the premises of an award show is if he’s paid to perform.

“And since he’s not performing at this event, he’ll fly back to Mumbai a night before.” 

Over a decade ago, Aamir Khan’s Lagaan was premiered at this particular awards weekend. However, Aamir, who had sworn off attending any awards event, went only to the get-together to discuss his then-maiden production venture. 

SRK's cigarette controversy: Police arrives at Mannat

police on Tuesday arrived at the doorsteps of the Bollywood superstar after a court issued him a summon for allegedly smoking at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium during one of the matches played there. 

A constable from Rajasthan police issued summon to SRK’s family members at Mannat with the help of Bandra police. Shah Rukh was not present there at the time, as he had already left for Pune for KKR’s match against DD. 

It was on April 8, during a game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, that Shah Rukh was spotted smoking at the stadium. The very next day, Anand Singh Rathore, director of Jaipur Cricket Academy, made a written complaint with Jyoti Nagar police in whose jurisdiction the stadium is located.

In his complaint, Rathore, alleged that despite there being a ban on smoking in public places, the actor puffed away in front of thousands of cricket fans. He said his fans idolise the actor, some even modelling themselves after him. So when Shah Rukh is seen lighting up in public, it sends the wrong signal to his young fans.

Taking cognisance of the complaint under section 5/11 of Rajasthan Prohibition of Smoking Act of 2000, chief metropolitan magistrate’s court of Jaipur ordered summons to the actor, asking him to remain present for hearing of the case on May 26. 

Before delivering the notice, constable Chitar Mal, who came to Mumbai on behalf of Jyoti Nagar police in Rajasthan, said, “I have been ordered by my superior to give this summon personally to Shah Rukh. If he is not present I will give it to other family members present in the house and take their signatures.”

A team from Bandra police helped Chitar Mal reach Mannat. A heavy crowd was gathered outside, waiting to get a glimpse of Shah Rukh. There was a major traffic jam, which eased after an hour. 

Senior police inspector Abhay Shastri from Bandra said, “The Rajasthan police reached here at 3 pm and after making a diary entry on our records, we helped the constable reach Shah Rukh’s house. The summon was given to a relative as SRK was not present, and then our team came back.”

Just last week, after an alleged scuffle and exchange of words with Wankhede stadium staff and MCA officials, Shah Rukh was issued a five-year ban from entering the venue. BCCI is reviewing the issue. 

Ganguly tells why Shah Rukh Khan always gets in trouble

The Pune Warriors skipper feels the KKR co-owner's tendency to get excited leads to emotional outbursts which give him wrong headlines. 

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly today made light of the controversies surrounding the fifth edition of IPL and also supported underfire BCCI, saying the sports body has run cricket in the "best possible way". 

IPL V has been hit by a series controversies, starting with spot-fixing allegations. Shah Rukh's ban and Luke Pomersbach's molestation episode only gave the wrong headlines to the tournament. Maken has also demanded a probe into BCCI's finances and also want the body to be put under the purview of RTI. The Sports Ministry wrote to the finance ministry seeking a probe into BCCI's financial matters. 

"BCCI has run cricket far better than others. People may criticise BCCI, but they have to give credit to the body for managing Indian cricket really well," Ganguly told a leading news channel today. 

Talking about the five-year ban KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan by the MCA over his alleged scuffle with a MCA official, Ganguly said, "It was a minor issue."

"My advice to Shah Rukh is to lie low for a few months. SRK tends to get excited and hyper which causes emotional outbursts. This gives him wrong headlines," he said. 

"It's difficult to ban SRK who is an IPL team owner. I don't know what happened, but such fights happen in life. At the end, banning SRK from Wankhede Stadium is as futile as banning Sachin Tendulkar for Mehboob Studios," he added.

Asked about the spot-fixing claims in IPL, Ganguly said, "Every format of the game is susceptible to such things. It depends on the individual players. I don't think franchise will ever allow such things." 

Ganguly also rubbished role of black money in IPL. "I have been involved in dealings during players' selection. No franchisee will pay you over and above the contracted amount."

Asked if BCCI should come under RTI as demanded by Sports Minister Ajay Maken, Ganguly said, "BCCI is a private body. But it runs cricket better than others sports bodies like hockey, etc. BCCI is not stupid, they work with a lot of transparency and I don't think it is the responsibility of BCCI to let people know how they run the sport." 

Asked about Ravindra Jadeja emerging as the highest paid cricketer ahead of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, Ganguly explained, "IPL is a perfect example of demand and supply. It depends on a player's availability. IPL payments are not as per the standard of the player. Michael Hussey is paid far less than many others."

Ganguly also didn't rule out being available as a player for the next season even though team promoter Sahara had announced he would be mentor. "I feel I can still play and contribute," said Ganguly, whose team Pune Warriors ended at the bottom of the heap in the ongoing IPL.

Asked if he would continue to play domestic cricket, Ganguly said: It depends on the way forward. "If I have to play IPL, I will continue to play domestic cricket." 

Ganguly also came out in defence of his teammate from Pune Warriors Mohnish Mishra who was shown in the TV sting operation claiming to have received much more money than the officially contracted amount. "I think Mohnish spoke out of proportion. I don't think his intentions were bad. Most of these players shown in the video also hardly played in the IPL," he said.

Did Jacqueline and Sajid had a lovers' tiff?

Sajid Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez had a fight last week. Reason? Producer Vashu Bhagnani who is remaking the 1983 film Himmatwala with Sajid as director is not too keen on casting the latter’s rumoured ladylove in the film. As they say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, so Jacqueline gave Sajid an earful.

Says a source, “Sajid had pitched in Jacqueline’s name in the cast. But Vashu made it extremely clear that she did not fit the role even though he was insistent. When the Sri Lankan realised what was happening, she was extremely upset. She felt Sajid could have been firmer and helped her bag a role in the project.”

Adds the source, “Sajid tried to influence Vashu and was keen to rope in Jacqueline but later realised that there could be no headway in it and gave up.”

While Ajay Devgn has been signed for the remake of the Bollywood action-drama that starred Jeetendra and Sridevi, the female cast has yet to be ascertained. Names of several Bollywood actresses as well as South ones have been thrown up though there is nothing official about it.


Says Vashu, “The remaking of Himmatwala is Sajid’s vision. He can take whoever he wants. It is his call entirely. At the moment we are still scripting and have not done any casting except for Ajay Devgn.” 

While Sajid also maintains it is not true. But the source adds, “Jacqueline has been speaking about it to those close to her.”

Jacqueline had featured in Sajid’s recent film Housefull. There has been buzz that he did not like the idea of her doing dare-bare roles due to which she had to opt out of Jannat 2.

Jackie Chan in Rs 300 crore Indian film with Salman Khan?

Buzz is that the Hollywood star will apparently play lead in a South project, Salman Khan and Kamal Haasan will do cameos 

The grapevine is buzzing with news about the three superstars, Jackie Chan, Salman Khan and Kamal Haasan sharing screen space in an Indian film.

Apparently, South director Venu Ravichandran, also known as Aaskar (Oscar) Ravichandran, has already roped in Jackie to play the lead in his next and is in talks with Sallu and Kamal Haasan to do cameos in the action film. 

The filmmaker had recently revealed his plans to make a sequel to the Jackie's Armour of God. Ravichandran has been negotiating with the Hollywood actor for long and now a deal is closed to being sealed. 

A source says, "It will be the mother of all action films and is going to be made on a mammoth budget of R 300 crore. It will be the most expensive Indian film ever made."

The source reveals, "Ravichandran has approached Salman to play an important cameo. He feels the actor has one of the best bodies in Bollywood and the charisma to match Jackie. Only he can carry that role. 

Get ready for Item Girl Kareena's 'Halkat Jawani'

Actress Kareena Kapoor, who has lately been doing many item numbers in Bollywood, is gearing up for her next item song in Madhur Bhandarkar's "Heroine". 

"We have a new item song called 'Halkat Jawani' which is a wonderful song that will be picturised on Kareena Kapoor. I am sure the audiences will love this song. This film 'Heroine' will be a different sort of film for Kareena Kapoor, " Bhandarkar told. 

Directed by Bhandarkar, the film has Kareena and Arjun Rampal in the lead.

The director says 40 percent of the shooting has been done.

"Forty percent of the film has been finished. From (April) 10th, we will again have a nonstop shooting and by September the film will be released, " he said.

Bhandarkar also sought to deny speculation that the film is based on Manisha Koirala's life.

"This film is not based on Manisha Koirala. It is absolutely wrong. Lot of things had been written about the film before. I have created a character called Mahi Arora who is today's girl. The film is all about how she witnesses the ups and downs in her life, " he said.

Through my campaign to spread awareness about breast cancer, I want to inform and educate all to be cautious and careful, " says Rozlyn, almost giving a new meaning to nudity.

"Early detection of breast cancer increases the chances of saving lives and that’s what I intend to achieve from this campaign. Even if I manage to spread the word to a few thousand, I'd be more than contended with it, " she adds with a glint in her eyes. 


To mount the awareness campaign on a large scale, the budding actress would be joining hands with a cancer association to promote the cause and will announce more details next week.

Bollywood's newest foreign import, dancer Lauren Gottlieb starts taking lessons in Hindi

American dancer Lauren Gottlieb, who is all set to act in Remo D'Souza's next film is on a strict prep mode. As she is required to mouth Hindi dialogues in her Bollywood debut, Remo has found her a coach to teach her the language. 

Speaking about Lauren, who participated in the US show So You Think You Can Dance in 2007, our source reveals, "Lauren has decided to keep the coach for a while to help her get better with the language. 

As soon as she came to Mumbai, 10 days back, she started her lessons and everyday for about an hour, she spends time with her coach." 

The 23-year-old dancer is so smitten by the language that she keeps practicing on the sets and off. The source adds further, "Lauren is constantly practising her Hindi.

She has asked people to talk to her in Hindi on the sets so that she can get a hang of the language faster. The moment her rehearsals end, she is back at her hotel where she sits with her coach. It is difficult for her to learn a new language but she is determined to get better.

She is showing great improvement and by the time her dialogue portions are needed to be filmed, she will be quite fluent." The dancer-turned-actress says, "Yes, I do have a coach who is helping me to learn Hindi. I have to say some dialogues in Hindi and I want to do it well."

Kolaveri is no poetry. It is just silly words: Dhanush

Last Week Dhanush performed live in Mumbai, his first stage performance. 

Says the actor shyly, “Earlier I had sung a song for my brother filmmaker Selvaraghavan’s audio release. That’s my only live performance so far. I wasn’t nervous about performing on Sunday. 

If I was a professional singer I’d worry. But I’m an amateur, so it didn’t matter if I went off-key. ”

Now this week Dhanush took Kolkata by storm. 

Says Dhanush humbly, “Kolkata was a great experience. It was an overwhelming experience. ” 

Next, Dhanush will perorm live in Delhi. 

Says the humble grateful star-singer, “God has been very kind to me. I had a great year. I couldn’t have asked for more. Now I’m just going to focus on shooting the song for my wife’s film. Let’s see where it goes from there. It will be shot in the first week of January. ”

Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya is directing him in 3. And the song Kolaveri di is already a big hit. “It seems the song has become bigger than the film. But the film has a solid and novel script. Once people see the film they’ll see the song as just a part of the narration. ”

Dhanush is refreshingly matter-of-fact about Kolaveri. “It’s just a song. Just a phase. It will pass. I am one of those people who don’t know how to speak proper English. But I manage. 

Speaking the English language was initially a huge problem for me, so I knew how to connect with people like me. I knew what words to choose so that they connect with people who are not fluent in English. ” 

Dhanush has no illusions about the quality of the lyrics. “It’s not poetry. Whatever silly words came to my mind I used it in the song. 

It’s just like any composition, nothing special A group of us gen-next kids me, Shruti Haasan, my wife Aishwarya and the composer Annirudh were open to ideas.

The tune was done in twenty minutes. As soon as I heard the song the words simply came to my mind spontaneously. I wanted the words to be understood by everybody regardless of whether they know English or not. ”

Mumbai: An on screen Bollywood marriage is close to reality as it shows the entire wedding ritual in an elaborated manner to complement the enormous amount of money that is spent behind the larger than life wedding sets. And the Tinsel Town is known to recreate weddings on screen in the most authentic and dramatic manner. 


Not too long ago, there was news of Genelia D’Souza and John Abraham doing a wedding sequence for their upcoming film `Force` wherein the mantras that were chanted were real and the duo completed all the wedding rituals religiously. The priest, Pandit Bhagwat Guruji was so engrossed performing the rituals that he forgot it was not real but reel wedding and he ended up pronouncing them duly wed husband and wife in real life. 

Now comes a twist in the tale! According to the priest Genelia cannot tie the nuptial in the near future with her alleged beau Riteish Deshmukh. He has asked producer Vipul Shah to help him fix an appointment with Genelia so that he could talk to her about the present situation. 

Talking to a daily, a source revealed, "There`s a scene in `Force` where the lead pair get married. Instead of a junior artiste, they called a real pandit for the scene. He insisted that she couldn`t get married as she was already married to John!" 

However, producer Shah said, "The pandit is now mad at us for getting him involved in this scene. He`s treating it like a real wedding, but I want to make him understand that that`s not the case. In my entire career, I`ve never experienced anything of this sort!"

Yana Gupta’s sizzling item song Zara Kareeb Se from Murder 2 will not be seen in the promos of the film, as the censor Board thinks it’s too provocative, and more than that, ‘horrific’.

As per reports, the raunchy item song where Yana is shown like an ultimate sex kitten appeared to the members of the Censor Board as gory and very suggestive. Thus unfit for TV screening.

According to Mohit Suri, the director of the film, the song is extremely in-your-face. “It was felt that the concept itself is not suitable to be viewed by everyone. The graphics are explicit. It needed an adult certification and on television you cannot monitor the audience,” the director is quoted as saying.

After the Censors prohibited the song from the promos, Mohit re-shot the song, which is a thrilling number, with the lead pair of the film Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Murder 2 releases on July 8.

Ismail Darbar apologizes over Oscar comment..

After rumours about the Academy planning to sue him for $50,000 million, Ismail Darbar, who had accused A R Rahman of having bought the Oscar awards, says he is ready to apologize.

The musician had indicted Rahman, who received two Oscars in 2008 Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his music in Slumdog Millionaire, of having paid for them.

Following this, there was scuttlebutt that The Academy of Motion Picture arts n sciences might sue him for insinuating that the awards can be bought.

Darbar now says he has nothing against the Oscars and that he just wanted to warn his ‘friend’ Rahman for churning out inferior quality music since last one year.

Darbar says, “I am grateful that I have been respected in the industry for my work. I did say some things about Rahman, because as a friend I want to jolt him out of his reverie and start giving good music.

I chose a public platform to do it, because he wouldn’t listen to me otherwise. I have nothing against the Oscars.

It is the most respected award, the whole world acknowledges it, and I do, too. If any of them (Academy) are hurt by my comments, I apologise to them.”

Darbar says he is not saying this out of fear of anyone, but God.

“I am not scared. The truth is, I realise that those people who respected me for my work, might misunderstand me and think I am baddimag (arrogant person).

Also, the fact is, I can have nothing against the Oscar panel or those behind the awards. My issue was with Rahman and I guess he’s got the message by now.”
